Access Youth Class of 2027
Hello my name is Angel T. I am currently an eighth grader at the Preuss School UCSD. I joined Access Youth Academy in 2017 and I’m excited to play squash and compete in tournaments. During my free time, I enjoy listening to music because it zones me out and relaxes me when I’m stressed. In the future, I want to attend UC Davis and study ophthalmology to help those who cannot see.
Hi! My name is Katie C. and I go to the Preuss School UCSD. I’m currently in the 8th grade and this is my first year in Access. I was born and currently live in San Diego, California. When I grow up I would like to become a marine biologist and attend either UCSD or UCSB. What drew me to marine biology is my love of the ocean and the fact that we have explored less than 5% of the ocean is very intriguing. It is amazing that humans know more about space than our oceans on earth! My hobbies include hiking, camping, and fishing. As you may be able to tell I am quite an outdoors and adventurous person. Being active is a priority in my everyday life and I am always on the go.
Hello, My name is Vivian N. and I am a 8th grader at Preuss School UCSD. My interests are taking walks and reading. Walks are something I can do to relax and escape hard times. That really does help me release my stress. If I don’t read or walk, I like to listen to music. When I grow up I like to be a veterinarian because I love animals. I am unsure which university I want to attend but I look forward to the experience.
Hello my name is Lexa and I am a 8th grader at the Preuss School UCSD. I joined Access in the 7th grade and I enjoy playing squash alongside my good friends. In my free time I really like listening to music and reading books. I like listening to music because it puts my feelings into songs and into a catchy beat. Also, I enjoy reading books because it takes me to another world, especially since the books I read are suspenseful. My future plans in life are to become a forensic scientist because the job is really interesting. I would like to be entertained in my future job. I can imagine asking myself how the body died if it’s unknown similar to the show Bones.
Hello my name is Maria A. and I am an 8th grader at the Preuss School UCSD. I was introduced to the sport of squash in the sixth grade through Access Youth Academy. For the past two years, Access has become a big part of my life and a second family to me. The staff cares about me and works with my teachers and family when I need help. When I grow up I aspire to attend college and help others.

Hi, my name is Richard and I go to The Preuss School UCSD. I have been part of Access for over two years now and I have found a love for squash. In addition to squash, I also enjoy playing basketball. I practice both sports everyday and I have seen improvement in my skills. In terms of school, I work hard to keep my grades up and prepare myself for the rigor of high school. In the future I am interested in attending Duke University and play basketball. Some of my favorite NBA players like Brandon Ingram and Kyrie Truing attended Duke. Although my parents want me to stay in California, I am determined to graduate from Duke.

Hi, my name is Carolina and I am currently an 8th grader at The Preuss School UCSD. When I was in 6th grade I was introduced to squash and I instantly fell in love with the sport. In fact, I liked the sport so much i caught myself playing it everyday. When I’m not playing squash, I am usually reading or listening to music. Music soothes me and distracts me from any problems in my life. Throughout the years, Access has supported me and helped me face my problems at school or in life. I am really grateful to be a part of this program!
